Who I am
This website (automatewithmax.com) is managed by me, Max van Collenburg.

Analytics
I want to process as little personal information as possible when you use my website. That’s why I’ve chosen Fathom Analytics for my website analytics, which doesn’t use cookies and complies with the GDPR, ePrivacy (including PECR), COPPA and CCPA. Using this privacy-friendly website analytics software, your IP address is only briefly processed, and I (running this website) have no way of identifying you. As per the CCPA, your personal information is de-identified.
The purpose of me using this software is to understand my website traffic in the most privacy-friendly way possible so that I can continually improve my website and business. The lawful basis as per the GDPR is “Article 6(1)(f); where my legitimate interests are to improve my website and business continually.” As per the explanation, no personal data is stored over time.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Cookies
I try to minimize the cookie on this website as much as possible.
Here are the cookies being used.
Comments
If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Security
When you browse my website, you might occasionally encounter a challenge to verify that you’re human and not an automated bot. To minimize interruptions, a cookie named cf_clearance
is stored for 45 minutes, preventing the challenge from appearing again during that time.
Personalization
If you join my email list or make a purchase, a user_status
cookie is set. This cookie stores a non-identifiable value, such as “customer” or “subscriber,” and is used to display different content on the website to enhance your experience. It does not contain any personal or identifiable information. This cookie will last for one year.
Campaigns
I occasionally run limited-time offers exclusively for email subscribers. To ensure you see the correct campaign, a cookie named dk_*
stores a unique code. This cookie expires at the end of the campaign, ensuring it is only used to display the relevant offer content across multiple pages during the promotion.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, or articles). This content behaves as if you visited the original website, meaning these websites may collect data about you, use cookies, or track your interactions, especially if you’re logged in to their platform.
Email marketing
If you would like to get my best automation tips, it’s possible to join my email list.
I only store the name & email address you give me, plus the URL of the page you used to submit the form so I can track the conversion rate of that page.
You can opt-out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of the emails you get from me.
Who I share your data with
No one. I don’t sell or share your data with third parties.
How long I retain your data
Comments: comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely. This ensures I can recognize and approve follow-up comments without needing moderation.
Email Subscriptions: your name and email address are retained indefinitely, even if you unsubscribe. This prevents duplicate emails if you resubscribe. Your data will only be retained for this purpose.
What rights you have over your data
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data I hold about you. If you have left comments or joined my email list, you can request an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you’ve provided. You also have the right to request the deletion of your personal data, except for any data I am required to retain for legal, administrative, or security purposes.
If you’re subscribed to my email list, you can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email.
Where your data is sent
Email addresses collected from subscribers are checked for validity using NeverBounce. Once verified, they are securely stored in ActiveCampaign for the sole purpose of sending you emails. This processing is fully compliant with GDPR, and your data is handled with care.
How I keep your data safe
I take your data security seriously and use several measures to protect it.
I keep all software up-to-date to fix any security issues and use two-factor authentication (2FA) with a hardware security key whenever possible to add an extra layer of protection.
