Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to me, and that’s why I’m almost not tracking anything.

Who I am

This website (automatewithmax.com) is managed by me, Max van Collenburg.

Analytics

I want to process as little personal information as possible when you use my website. That’s why we’ve chosen Fathom Analytics for my website analytics, which doesn’t use cookies and complies with the GDPR, ePrivacy (including PECR), COPPA and CCPA. Using this privacy-friendly website analytics software, your IP address is only briefly processed, and I (running this website) have no way of identifying you. As per the CCPA, your personal information is de-identified.

The purpose of me using this software is to understand my website traffic in the most privacy-friendly way possible so that I can continually improve my website and business. The lawful basis as per the GDPR is “Article 6(1)(f); where my legitimate interests are to improve my website and business continually.” As per the explanation, no personal data is stored over time.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

This website does not use any kind of cookies because I value your privacy.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Email marketing

If you would like to get my best productivity tips, it’s possible to join my email list.

I only store the name & email address you give me, plus the URL of the page you used to submit the form so I can track the conversion rate of that page.

You can opt-out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of the emails you get from me.

Who I share your data with

Nobody.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you subscribe to my email list, I will store your first name & email address indefinitely, even if you unsubscribe. This is to ensure that if you ever resubscribe, I will know which emails you have already received from me.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments or joined my email list, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments are checked through the automated spam detection service of Akismet.

Email subscribers their first name & email address are stored in a EU-hosted database in Make that is secured with a spezialized hardware security key.

How I keep your data safe

While I’m not a cyber security expert, I do my best to keep your data out of the hands of hackers.

The main way I do this is by keeping software up-to-date, and by using two-factor authentication with a specialized hardware security key wherever I can.
